Doctoral Schools

 

The Organic Law 6/2001, of  December 21, on Universities includes in its article 8.4 this definition of Doctoral Schools:

4. Doctoral schools are units created by one or several universities, by themselves or in collaboration with other organizations, centers, institutions and entities with R + D + i activities, national o foreign, whose main objective is the organization, within of its field of management, of the doctorate in one or several  branches of knowledge or of an interdisciplinary nature.
Universities may create doctoral schools in accodance with the provisions of their own regulations and those of the respective Autonomous Community. Its creation must be notified to the Ministry of Education, for the puposes of its registration in th Register of Universities, Centers and Degrees.

 

The Statute of the University of Cadiz includes in its  article 9 the Doctoral School:

Article 9. Doctoral School of the University of Cadiz.
1. The Doctoral School of the University of Cadiz (EDUCA) will be in charge of the organizarion of permanent training, the organization and management of those  teachings leading to obtaining the doctoral degree, as well as those of the master´s degrees that cannot assumed by a School or Faculty and that the Governing Council of this University assigns.
2. It will give administrative support to corresponding Commissions of University of Cadiz, and its organization and functions wiil be carried out according to he regulations.
3. The University of Cadiz may create other Doctoral Schools or participate in others.
4. The creation, modification and supression of the Doctoral Schools will be carried out in accordance with provisions of article 8 of these Statutes.
